My dad just passed on a story to me that was from a man who works with us here in Libya. I will preface the story and then copy and paste his email. When you're flying out of Tripoli you have your passport looked at by just about everyone you see. It's a terribly long process at times and yet there is still no sense of security so it really boggles the mind if you attempt to find reason behind the things they do. And here is the email:
"Today, as we boarded the BA flight to London there was the usual guy who is at the door of the plane checking your passport one last time(sigh.....). He was in a particularly jovial mood laughing and being friendly. So, I said "I make a flight about once a month and I've always wondered what are you guys looking for when you check our passport as we board the plane"?
He looks at me with biggest most friendly smile I can recall and says, "I DON'T KNOW"!
I said "well that makes 2 of us, huh"?
Then he laughs and gives me a big High 5 slap and says, "have a nice flight"!!!
Well, there you have it. Another mystery solved.
Libya, what a country!"
This story should give you an understanding of what Libya is like. You might as well not try to understand their reasoning behind things, because as you find out, there isn't any.
