Still sitting in Malta

Just in case you all want an update...

We are still in Malta. We decided on Saturday that it didn't look like the protests and unrest was ending any time soon. The word was "business as usual", but that just didn't quite sit right with me. So we stayed.
I'm glad we did. For now we will be staying here until we are instructed on what to do.
We are praying for everyone that still wait for evacuation in Tripoli, as well as the Libyans who are fighting for their freedom. This whole thing seems so crazy.
We are currently experiencing a protest of our own here. Rocco is tired, ready for bed, and we can't find his binky! This is going to be such a long night.

  5. Asalamu Alaykom from Egypt,

Checking the Libyan blogs to see the simmilarities and differences from what we went through here.

We stayed put, but we didn't have YOUR leader. I would probably get out if that were the case. Some very scarey rhetoric coming out. In Egypt, the speeches weren't so much fear mongering as patronizing.

I do think that when you've got a child, the whole thing becomes that much more frightening. One of my favorite movies is "Life is Beautiful" and there are some times when you're really tired, cranky, scared or all of the above and you have to pull yourself to gether for your child. Maybe that's true all of the time, but during these revolutions those feelings are to the max.

Be smart with your instincts. Don't do what others are doing just "because". Be true to your gut. It is a very primal time. If you are overly cautious---that's OK! It's better than being overly stupid, right?!

Take care and remember that this won't last forever. Really. It won't. Honest.

    :)
