Hi everyone!
Just wanted to let you all know that we made it home (Idaho) safely on Tuesday. We haven't gotten much further than that. We left everything in Libya, and can't imagine we will get the chance to return to it, or it be returned to us.
I'm not sure what we will do now. We are kind of waiting to see what happens.
I have been praying for everyone in Libya a lot, and hoping that everyone we know is safe and away from all the craziness. We have tried to get a hold of a couple friends there, but haven't heard from them.
I have heard a little about it since coming back, but mostly people whining about their future gas prices. I guess we are usually so detached from everything else in world here, that people being killed on their streets, in their neighborhoods, in their homes, is not as important, as it does not affect us directly.
Anyway, just experiencing some jet lag, and a heavy heart, so I thought I would update the old blog. I imagine it will be pretty boring these days.
I can't even imagine what it's like, honey. I'm so sorry and will try to help ease the pain.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are all safe and sound and will be praying for your friends.
ReplyDeleteI was a student of Frau Rinard in the late '70's and found your blog through hers. I'm glad you're home safely. Hope you hear from your friends and that they're safe. We've been praying and will continue to do so. Keep on posting - since I grew up in Boise/Meridian, and my husband was a newspaper editor in Blackfoot, I'm always anxious to hear about Idaho!
ReplyDeleteAgain, Welcome Home.
Mel I am so sorry for all you have been through. It is aweful to think of what those poor people are going through. I will keep you and your friends in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteAsalamu Alaykom from Egypt,
ReplyDeleteI admire your ability to keep sane and safe and let go and let God.
Your things are replacable. Really. It hurts to feel when our precious stuff is discarded. What helps me is to think of the flow of life taking the items from me and sending them on to their next destiny; their next owner. Somebody will get your things, I believe and will get use out of them. There's some happiness in that. Islamically, you get the good deeds of the donation.
The question mark looms after the word "Home". Yes, it isn't where you feel connected. Idaho isn't really connected to much in the global context. Think of this time in Idaho as a pit stop. It's not your ultimate destination. Gather your thoughts, energy, resources, spirits and move on when you are able. You will find a new home (without the question mark).
And don't consign your life to boring. Find the fun and keep living BIG! Life is still an adventure.
