Pelicans, Hammocks, and Slippers.

Well, I haven't posted in a week or so...as you may have noticed. I haven't really done anything, as we have mostly been staying at home. It's been rainy and windy most of the week. Rocco and I did brave the elements yesterday to walk down to the zoo.

It was really nice to get out of the house for a bit. We actually stayed there almost four hours. Rob met us for lunch, we saw all the RAWRs, and Rocco got to pick out a little stuffed tiger from the gift shop. (Which he hasn't put down since. It has two indents from where he has a hold of it all the time) One of the elephants was going on her morning walk, so we got to follow her for a bit which Rocco loved. They just walk her right through the zoo, it's pretty fun. Her name is Tricia, and she's 55 years old. I don't think I realized elephants got so old. I do love our zoo, and could probably go there every day. It's pretty fun.
Did you know Hienas aren't in the dog or cat family? Rob and I were trying to figure out which
one a few weeks ago while we were watching them. They look like both, but are neither.
In other news...we are settled (mostly) in the new house! It's really nice here, we like it a lot. I've been fighting with the cable and internet company the past week or so trying to get them out here, but other than that, everything is good. Who knew it would be so hard to get them to set us up so we can pay them?? So now we have slow internet, and local channels. I know, the horror :) Mostly it's annoying because they have such terrible customer service. You would NEVER have to wait over two weeks to get Direct TV. Can you imagine? When we ordered Direct TV back home, we had it THAT DAY!
Anyway.
It's been a little lonely here. For some reason (probably the winter season) it feel like the holidays should be coming up...but they aren't. That is kind of disappointing for me. Mostly because that's my favorite time of year, and it will be so hot when they do come around. (if that makes sense) It's weird
to be so far away from everyone (For the most part. I do have the two and half most important ones with me:), and everything I know. The time is pretty much opposite, the weather is opposite, even the way the water swirls down the toilet is opposite. Well, so I've heard. It's doesn't actually swirl in any of the toilets I've remembered to look in. It's just flushes. I'm not sure why that is... Anyway, I just wish I had a friend that worked the night shift at the most boring job ever. That would be the best! Or maybe they could just be nocturnal? That would be helpful :)

OH! I am also pretty excited to go pick this baby hammock up tomorrow! I'm buying it from someone on Gumtree, and it seems like the coolest thing ever. I'll probably have a hard time waiting until November or December to use it. I might throw Rocco in it. (It does say up to 20 kilos)
Isn't that cool? It hangs from a stand or a hook in the ceiling, and has a spring so you can bounce the baby. It's supposed to make them feel as secure and comforted as they did in the womb. It's called the Happy Hangup, and is made right here in Australia! I am feeling pretty lucky that I found one on Gumtree for almost half the price!
Three more weeks until I'm half way through this, and we get to find out the boy/girl part! I haven't made my appointment yet, so I'm hoping maybe they'll let me do it two weeks, just to be sneaky.
I'm starting to show some. Although probably if you didn't know I was pregnant you would just think I need to suck it in. If I ever look presentable in the next 23 weeks, I'll post a picture...but, I don't have huge motivation to start snapping photos of myself just yet.

But, here's one of Rocco and Rob! They are looking mighty handsome, don't you think?

See, I told you it's cold here! (Rocco and I have been wearing our winter coats)

I can't wait to get my slippers!!! Don't they make you warm just looking at them? My dogs are freeeezing! Right now, as I type. My nose is cold and my toes are colder.

Well, that was a lot of rambling, but there you go!
That's what is going on here.
P.S. I'm hoping it's just my slow internet connection that I don't see the video up at the top. So I'll leave it, and hope you can all see it. If you see a blank space, it's a video of Rocco and elephant. You probably all saw in on Facebook anyway though.

  2. Well, sweetpea, it's seriously weird to see winter coats and have you say your feet are freezing! It's just starting to get hot here.
The Happy Hangup looks like a great idea. I wonder if there is anything like that in the States.
I love you and can't wait to see you again even if only on Skype. So, we need to try and do that tonight/in the morning!

    1. Hi Mom! I know you left this awhile ago, but I don't think I saw it, and it made me feel so happy that I had to say I LOVE YOU TOO! I hope we can skype again soon!
