If you're reading this, you probably know by now that we are in Perth, Western Australia. It's been nearly exactly 2 weeks since we left Boise. We're still settling in here and learning our way around the city. We ride the buses to get around and have driven quite a bit. Driving on the other side hasn't been too difficult to get used to, except that I scare the passenger a little bit as I tend to hug their side of the road and have to make sure I stay over to my side more than comes naturally. Mel even drove home from the store one night and did very well.
Here is Mel studying the sugar beets at Farmer Jack's, our supermarket here in Subiaco.
I've been extremely pleasantly surprised with selection of food here. I guess after living in Libya and visiting parts of Europe I prepared myself for having a poor selection but it's really good. No place is as good as the States but it's really unfair to compare to the States.
On Saturday we went to the beach with Ted, Adriana, and Bryson. We went to Cottesloe Beach, about a 15 minute drive from the house, which was actually my first driving that wasn't to the store. It was a nice beach, but was extremely hot and after a couple hours we were ready to go. Rocco wasn't loving the water, Mel accidentally let him take a wave to the face, but he did love the sand. We have a couple pictures but Mel will have to post those since I don't have them.
Sunday, Dad and I checked out the driving range at Wembley Golf Course, an impressive 36-hole course that looks like it will be fun to play someday. The driving range was as impressive as I've ever seen. It's a state-of-the-art, 2 level range that hits downhill and looks directly toward the city. It's a nice view and the city isn't as far away as it appears in the picture. You enter your coupon code on the screen at your spot and the balls come from underground on the tee in less than 6 seconds. It's pretty sweet.
Here is my textbook form at the range and the view from the range where you're looking at the city.
Today, Monday, we went to Ikea. It was my first time to one and it was kind of overwhelming. I felt like I needed a nap half-way through and they probably had a nap room but I didn't see it. You can see that Rocco felt the same but he was able to snooze peacefully. The other picture is gorgeous the Mel standing under some beautiful yellow flowers that were along our walk to the bus stop.
That's all for now. I went on much longer than I expected. If you missed Mel's recent post, make sure you check it out below. I think she posted one right before me so you may have missed it. See ya
