Here's what I did today...
I love making cinnamon rolls. They look so pretty. : )
A cup of brown sugar and 2 1/2 tbs of cinnamon later, these are not something I can make often.
Brown sugar is a hot item here. I found it the other day, and bought what they had. As far as cinnamon goes, I haven't seen it, except in stick form, since we arrived. I should start looking again.
Maybe you can grind the sticks into powdered cinnamon? The rolls look really yummy!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you can make brown sugar by adding a bit of molasses to white sugar. But, maybe you can't get molasses either...
ReplyDeleteYummo!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I should just grind some. They have spice grinders that I've seen. I forgot to bring some back with me last time. That was the goal...molasses, I haven't seen either. It could be that they have it, I'm not sure that I would recognize it. I've never used it.
ReplyDeleteThese look so good!
ReplyDeleteYou can get cinnamon in Souq Al Talat in the bulk spice section. I think it is pronounced gearfah. Some of the bins have English labels too so it might not be that hard to find. One scoop will be around 1-2 dinars. Happy baking!
ReplyDeleteYou can always find cinnamon (and other grinded coffee, corn, spice, raw peanut, etc ) in Souq Dewabe-l, (coordinate in Google earth is 32-50-55.32N and 13-06-53.23E)
ReplyDeleteWhich is very near to the vegetable market where you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits.
